Adoption a Dog in Orange County
Orange County Animal Services is calling on animal lovers to adopt a dog after 98 animals, including 27 small dogs from one woman, were impounded Wednesday.
On Wednesday night, a 73-year-old woman surrendered 27 small dogs and puppies after she realized she did not have the means to take care of them, officials said. The dogs appear to be in good health and will soon be evaluated by Animal Services clinic staff.
With Wednesday’s new additions, the shelter is nearly full and many of the kennels have multiple dogs in them, officials said.
"We are in need of anyone who is ready to take on the responsibility of owning a pet to visit the shelter and adopt, " said Dil Luther, division manager of Orange County Animal Services.
For the month of April, the shelter is waiving the standard adoption fee for pets who have been surrendered to the shelter, calling these "certified pre-owned pets."
