Pet Adoption Halifax
Find your new best friend at the Halifax Humane Society!
Halifax Humane Society can house approximately 350 animals every day and is usually at maximum capacity. At any given time, there are many wonderful homeless animals available for adoption. All they need is a chance to show just how special they are! You can view sample photos of pets available for adoption on our website. There are many more still in need of good permanent homes to live out their lives in, so if you are looking to expand your family, please save a life and adopt a homeless animal. In order to adopt an animal from our shelter, you must visit in person. The Halifax Humane Society is open seven days a week, so come by today and meet your next best friend!Individuals or families interested in adopting an animal must interact with the animal outside of its kennel. Applicants must complete an application form in the front office. After the office staff screens the applications, a surgery date is scheduled for the animal to be spayed or neutered before it will be placed in its new home. If the animal has already been altered, it can usually go home the same day! Otherwise, a date and time is established for the adopters to pick-up their new family member. If a placement is felt to not be in the best interest of the animal, the adoption will be denied.
