Pet Pounds Adoption
Weekends are very busy. Please be patient, we want to make sure we find the perfect pet for you.
We recommend you bring your children to visit with the pets you are interested in. We may also schedule a dog visit to bring your family dog if you are looking for an additional dog. Please set up an appointment with an Adoption Coordinator for the dog meet. We do not recommend cat-dog visits or cat-cat visits. All dogs who visit our shelter must be on a leash and be up to date on all vaccinations.
Adoption is a lifetime commitment including the training, emotional commitment and future medical care. Our most successful adoptions are to visitors who take their time in finding an appropriate companion. Every day, new pets are received at the League and made available for adoption, so if you don’t find an ideal companion pet immediately, keep visiting.
Senior to Senior Adoptions: Your Adoption is FREE!
Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League encourages senior citizens (age 65 and older) to participate in our Senior to Senior program, where we match you with a senior pet (five years or older). Research shows that having a pet helps people lead healthier lives, and the benefits are many: companionship, lowered blood pressure, stress relief, sense of purpose and responsibility, the list goes on.
We think pets are so important to keep our seniors healthy and happy, we’ll pick up the tab! Please visit us to meet your match.
Pets for Patriots: Bring Loyalty Home
We are proud to be a part of the Pets for Patriots program. In an effort to improve the well-being of service personnel through companion pet adoption, this unique program offers special discounts and a one-time monetary gift to enrolled United States veterans who adopt a qualifying animal. This program not only gives us a chance to salute our veterans, but also helps us find loving homes for our hard-to-place animals.
Individuals are welcome from all United States armed forces and at any stage of their careers. Those interested in the program must first apply through Pets for Patriots and provide proof of current military service or honorable discharge. Joining Pets for Patriots is entirely free to veterans. Qualifying pets must be over two years of age, over 40 pounds, or be considered special needs.
