Broward County Animal Services
The Humane Society of Broward County (HSBC) will perform low-cost and free spay/neuter surgeries five days a week on the new custom portable unit recently acquired by Broward County Animal Care & Adoption.
The unit, which was designed by FORTS located in Broward County, is the first of its kind in the nation to be used for pet spay/neuter surgeries and has a surgery prep area, two surgery tables, a pre- and post- op recovery area all within 400 square feet. The portable unit is currently stationed at Sunview Park 1500 SW 42nd Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, 33317 and will remain on site for approximately 6 months.
After that timeframe the unit is folded up, slid back on its custom trailer and moved to another targeted location within Broward County where there is a need for spay/neuter services.
At the Humane Society of Broward County, we understand the importance of spaying and neutering our pets. That’s why we offer lower cost spay and neuter services to the public to help ensure optimal health benefits for its pets and that there are enough homes for all pets.
Did you know that, everyday, 70, 000 puppies and kittens are born in the United States. More than 60% of them are unwanted and will be abandoned, often brought to a shelter or rescue organization.*
We play an important role in reducing the number of homeless animals born by offering low cost surgery to spay or neuter pets. In addition to reducing overpopulation, spaying or neutering your pet improves health and wellness and diminishes undesirable behaviors associated with females in heat and overactive male suitors.
We operate a spay/neuter clinic for pet owners throughout our community. The clinic is staffed by licensed professional veterinarians, veterinary technicians and veterinary assistants.
To see if your pets qualify for a free spay/neuter through the SNIP Program, Broward County residents must apply online at . If you are approved you will receive a voucher that can be redeemed at the HSBC by making an appointment. You can also learn about sterilization programs for feral and free roaming cats at their website as well.
