Once your pet is past its primary vaccinations, a regular physical examination is the most important thing you can do to keep your pet healthy. It’s a chance to detect and prevent health problems early. During the exam, it might call for laboratory tests or diagnostic workups of blood, stool, urine or skin. At Pet Doctors of America our veterinary staff will discuss the importance of parasite control, nutrition and dental care. We will answer any questions you have about the breed and consider any risk factors to be aware of as well as recommend appropriate vaccinations.
Working closely with our veterinarians, we will determine a baseline for your pets health so we can recognize changes, should they occur, during your pets growth. We always are asked, “what is normal?” For example, a dog’s body temperature can range from 100.5 to 102.5 or the heart rate can range from 70 to 120 beats per minute. Knowing your pets throughout their life helps us work together to keep them healthy.
